Alex Maaza is Ecosystem & Enterprise Growth Lead at the Cardano Foundation, working at the intersection of onchain treasury governance and real-world adoption. As a Voting Member on Cardano's Product Committee and Chair of the Ecosystem Funding Working Group, he drives reform in how Cardano's ₳1.7B treasury is governed and deployed - with greater effectiveness, efficiency and accountability. He also leads the Foundation's engagement with United Nations agencies, developing mechanisms to address humanitarian and sustainable development challenges through Cardano adoption. Previously with the Embassy of Switzerland in South Africa, Alex led innovation diplomacy initiatives across AI, blockchain and deep tech in the region. He is a WEF Global Shaper, former Board Secretary of INATBA and Board Member of Amnesty International South Africa. He holds a Masters in International Affairs from the Geneva Graduate Institute and a Bachelor's in Economics, Finance & Social Development from the University of Cape Town.
